This summer I had the opportunity to intern at NoD Coworking. Going into it, I was not entirely sure what to expect. I have always been super interested in startups and was involved with an entrepreneurial organization at my college this past year. I wanted to gain more exposure to the startup world and I figured this would be a good place to start.
I was astonished by just how big the Dallas startup community truly is. I grew up in the DFW area and I never thought of the city as a growing hub of innovation. Little did I know, DFW is home to a number of coworking spaces, accelerator programs, and tech startups and rapidly growing each day. There are no shortage of events to attend and people to meet that are all somehow involved with the Dallas startup scene.
Within the NoD community, I got to surround myself with highly motivated, inspirational people who are extremely passionate about the projects they are creating. It is interesting to see the wide spectrum of members – from developers to startup founders to filmmakers. Not only that, but everyone cares about what is going on in each other’s lives. The attributes of genuine compassion and collaboration is what made me look forward to coming into work everyday.
Throughout my time, I got to celebrate NoD’s 1 Year Anniversary, see dozens line up to pitch at Startup Weekend, and run Perfect Pitch, NoD’s first elevator pitch competition. I truly got to be exposed to each step of building a startup – from ideation to execution. It is amazing to see the DFW Startup Community come together for all of these cool events.
I had a great summer and definitely learned a lot about the startup community. Hopefully, this experience will help me one day jumpstart my own business. Meanwhile, shout out to Chirag for giving me the opportunity to have this awesome experience. I cannot wait to see how NoD will grow in the future!
